Whether you're visiting the US on vacation, on a work and travel visa (J1 visa) or if you are a US citizen Tella is here to tell you that it is in fact possible to travel the US on a tight budget! Here we will discuss the various ways you can see more and spend less:
1. How many cities do you want to visit?
First off, you need to think of how many countries and cities you want to visit. How many attractions you want to see. How many picturesque places you want to take your next insta post. All of these are vital before you even think about planning your next adventure!
2. If you are traveling with others make a list!
Traveling with others can be so exciting! The memories that you and your travel buddy(s) create on your travels can be the best memories you can ever make together. Each person will want to see an abundance of tourist destinations. Sometimes those who you are traveling with want to see the same or different destinations that you want to visit. To save money and possible bickering get you and your friends to write separate lists of sites that you all want to see and compare. Take the common sites as definite destinations to visit on your travels. If there is money to spare add in one or two additional sites that each person wants to see.
3. Consider what kind of trip you want to embark on.
Is your budget high, medium, low or are you scraping the bucket? Do you want to stay in hotels, hotels, B&B's, yurts, tents or do you want to save your pennies and see more sites? Maybe consider sleeping on buses through the night? Sleeping in airports, on trains etc...
4. Want to see an expensive city? Go mid week!
Want to go somewhere that's considered expensive but your budget just can't afford it? Go mid week and get all the best deals!
5. We all have baggage
Be smart and bring the bare minimum. It can be tempting to bring more than enough but you will pick up things along the way. Bring less and have room for more!
6. Investments you will need to make.
You will need to buy a couple of things that will make the trip easier. A battery charging port. An multi country adapter. An extension lead. Packing cubes. Things that will make your packing easier!
